In Stitches

Blackpool welcomes a friendly invasion of tourists from across the globe each year. Now, startling new evidence has come to light: Tourism has gone inter-galactic...

The aliens are amongst us. They eat our candyfloss, they ride our donkeys, they use our catch phrases.

They are here.

It’s documented – ‘In Stitches’

Lingo and catch phrases captured in cross-stitch by
artist Karen Lamb.

Karen’s most recent assignment was to observe inter-galactic visitors and document their lingo using state-of-the-art technology- Cross-stitch.

To create a background for the artwork I designed a motif.

A fusion of Victorian Parlour meets Space Invader.

I then stencilled it onto fabric.

Later, I stapled the fabric onto plywood panels.

It could only end in tears...

I thought 'They'll never find me in here!' but I was wrong.
Intergalactic forces had already zapped the building opposite
and created the illusion of a 'Car Park'. Undoubtedly a flimsily
disguised observation area and landing pad.
It was a dead give away when a small green chap with red eyes
and little legs asked me for change for the ticket machine.

The telephone booth on the left could quite possibly be an interplanetary
portal. The entity that emerged from it uttered something alien and reeked of
vinegar but as he was holding a bag of chips at the time, I can't be certain.
Standard alien camouflage is bound to include chips.

Exterior erosion due to extraterrestrial biological entities trying to delete
documented evidence of their presence.
Or they thought the sign above was missing a letter ' i '.
